While having a conversation with people or convincing someone as most do understand the importance of telling a story and making a point. After all, that’s the essence of public speaking by giving instances and stories. But I have a question for you – have you ever seen a story that was all over the place? Now be honest, have you ever given one? I have also done the same quite at times, and it happens because we start developing our stories in the wrong way.
So let’s get on with this and find a solution. We need to start creating our message with our undermost or basic expressions. So what is this? It’s the sentence or expression upon which we build our story, our activities, or whatever other words we tend to use. It may be also our punch line to please the audience. For example, we can use phrases like ‘Actions speak louder than words’.
What did you notice about the phrase? You must have noticed that it is short but direct to the point. So always remember this that you undermost phrase should be less than 10-15 words, but arranged in such a way that it may deliver the whole story. It’s because fewer than 10 words forces you to be crystal clear on your message. Trust me, if your message isn’t clear to you, there won’t be a chance to be clear to your audience.
The next important thing while narrating a story is to be fully confident. Confidence comes from the truthfulness of the story. i. e. If you are narrating a story, proving your aspects then you should be clear with them and it shouldn’t be a false instance created by you. It should be 100% true. Most of the times people develop their own stories and narrate them, these people should become script writers. 😀
Practice your medium of language by which you are going to convince or prove. As there is always a standard method of standing in front of the mirror and practicing. The main key element of confidence is the knowledge of a particular topic you are going to speak on. So try to gain the best quality of knowledge of that subject.
I would like to share some nice lines I read on the internet:
Once, all the people in a village decided to pray for rain. For doing the prayers all people gathered and only one boy came with an Umbrella, it’s Confidence.
